Notes

'Mt. St. Helens' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Mt. St. Helens') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double flowers are a molten rosy red, and small rings of stamens show as they mature. Thick, strong stems hold the blooms upright on plants 30 to 36 inches tall.

Pairs well with Autumn Frost hosta, Blue grama, and Indian grass.
