Notes
'NCHA4' smooth hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens 'NCHA4') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, shade gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast into a clump about 4 to 5 feet tall and wide, and pink blooms attract butterflies, bees, and birds. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Bloom times run from spring through early autumn.
Pairs well with Sensitive fern, Northern bayberry, and Dutchman's breeches.
