Notes
'Nifty Thrifty' thrift (Armeria maritima 'Nifty Thrifty') is a perennial for the front of the border, containers, and the dry garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry soil. Narrow, grass-like green and gold leaves form a compact mound. Short stems carry globe-shaped heads of small pink flowers in early to late spring. Sporadic re-blooming is common through the summer, and it tolerates salty soils and coastal spots.
Pairs well with Blue Spruce sedum, Ornamental onion, and Purple lovegrass.
