Notes

Nikko maple (Acer maximowiczianum) is a tree for shade gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It grows slowly into a rounded shape, reaching 30 to 45 feet tall and wide. Yellow spring flowers attract butterflies, bees, and birds, and the leaves turn color in fall.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Autumn fern, and Guacamole hosta.
