Notes

Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius) is a shrub for borders, hedges, privacy screens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast and reaches 5 to 8 feet tall. White flowers open in spring and again in summer, and they draw butterflies, bees, and birds. The foliage ranges from gold or yellow to green.

Pairs well with Eastern redbud, Purple Coneflower coneflower, and Little bluestem.
