Notes

'North Star' cherry (Prunus cerasus 'North Star') is a fruit for borders, pollinator gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. The fragrant flowers draw butterflies, bees, and birds. The early fruit has good flavor and is grown for culinary use, but it keeps only 1 to 3 days. The University of Minnesota bred it in the 1950s.

Pairs well with Golden Delicious apple, Garlic chives, and Blue Arrow Rocky mountain juniper.
