Northern Belle sweet bay magnolia

Notes

'Northern Belle' sweet bay magnolia (Magnolia virginiana 'Northern Belle') is a tree for specimen planting, fragrance, and screening. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry soil. Its large white flowers open from late spring into summer and release a sweet perfume across the garden. The leaves stay evergreen, though the tree could lose them in a cold winter.

Pairs well with American hazelnut, Liverleaf, and Ebony spleenwort.
