Notes

'JN8' sweet bay magnolia (Magnolia virginiana 'JN8') is a tree for borders, specimen planting, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. Fragrant white flowers open in spring and again in summer, and bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit them. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The tree has a columnar form and grows rapidly.

Pairs well with Joe-pyeweed, Bottlebrush buckeye, Ostrich fern, and Sedge.
