Notes

'Obelisk' pear (Pyrus communis 'Obelisk') is a tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its narrow, columnar shape fits small spaces, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit the spring blooms. It is self-fertile, so one tree can set fruit. The late-season pears are grown for fresh eating and keep for 1 to 2 months.

Pairs well with Gala apple, Gladiator ornamental onion, and Queen of Sweden rose.
