Notes

'October Skies' aromatic aster (Symphyotrichum oblongifolium 'October Skies') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, meadows, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. It grows 18 to 24 inches tall and wide in a dense mound. Dark sky blue flowers open in autumn and attract butterflies, bees, and birds.

Pairs well with Indian grass, Brown-eyed Susan, and Black gum.
