Notes
'Thunderdome' aromatic aster (Symphyotrichum oblongifolium 'Thunderdome') is a perennial with purple, daisy-like flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry soil. The blooms have yellow centers and open in early to late summer and again in early to mid autumn. Rabbits tend to pass it by. It grows 2 to 4 feet tall, and butterflies visit the flowers.
Pairs well with American Gold Rush black-eyed Susan, Blackhawks big bluestem, and Cat's Pajamas nepeta.
