Notes

'Ostbo Red' mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia 'Ostbo Red') is an evergreen shrub for accent planting and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Red buds open to soft pink flowers in spring. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Inkberry, Rainforest Sunrise hosta, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
