Notes

'Nipmuck' mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia 'Nipmuck') is a shrub for pollinator gardens and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Red buds open to soft pink flowers against glossy evergreen leaves, and bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the blooms. Deer rarely make it their first choice. With time it grows into a more open, architectural shape.

Pairs well with Star magnolia, Rose Glow Japanese barberry, and Black Parrot tulip.
