Notes
Parry's beardtongue (Penstemon parryi) is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Long spikes of pink, tubular flowers line the upper stems, and hummingbirds and bees visit them. Deer tend to pass it by. The pale green, arrow-shaped leaves look good beside grasses.
Pairs well with Desert marigold, Blackfoot daisy, Desert spoon, and California poppy.
