Notes

'Pearl Maxwell' camellia (Camellia japonica 'Pearl Maxwell') is a shrub for borders, woodland gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes part sun and average to wet soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows slowly into a columnar, evergreen form and tolerates salt. Bees and birds visit it, and it blooms in winter and spring.

Pairs well with Wild ginger, Cherry laurel, and Sweet bay magnolia.
