Notes

'Philomèle' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Philomèle') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. The fragrant anemone type blooms heavily on strong stems, with dark old-rose outer petals and a collar of narrow buff petals. Jacques Calot bred it.

Pairs well with Spanish bluebell, Sensitive fern, and Cheerfulness daffodil.
