Notes
'Pirate’s Gold' peony (Paeonia 'Pirate’s Gold') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The golden yellow blooms have dark red flares and open in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.
Pairs well with Big bluestem, Nelly Moser clematis, Spiderwort, and Cornflower.
