Notes
'Platinum Blue' small globe thistle (Echinops ritro 'Platinum Blue') is a perennial for mixed borders, rock gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun. Lavender-blue spheres of starry flowers top silvery stems in early to late summer, and bees love them. Rabbits tend to nibble other plants first. The florets open at the top of each sphere and continue downward.
Pairs well with Showy milkweed, Foxtail barley, and Ring of Fire sunflower.
