Notes

'Star Frost' globe thistle (Echinops bannaticus 'Star Frost') is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Butterflies and bees visit the round flower heads, and the plant tolerates drought. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It grows 35 to 47 inches tall, so place it toward the back of the bed.

Pairs well with Pale purple coneflower, Anise hyssop, and Purple lovegrass.
