Notes

'Poky' blood currant (Ribes sanguineum 'Poky') is a shrub for borders, hedges, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows at a rapid rate and has an arching habit. Fragrant flowers open in early to late spring and attract hummingbirds, bees, and birds.

Pairs well with Butterfly bush, False indigo, and Little bluestem.
