Notes

'Black Swan' poppy (Papaver somniferum 'Black Swan') is an annual for borders, pollinator gardens, and low maintenance beds. It handles cool weather and a light frost. This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It blooms from early to late summer, draws butterflies and bees, and grows 24 to 36 inches tall. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Plants stay slim at about 12 inches wide.

Pairs well with Ostfriesland sage, Lady's mantle, Purple Sensation ornamental onion, and Meadow rue.
