Notes
Prairie aster (Symphyotrichum turbinellum) is a perennial for borders and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Lavender to violet flowers with yellow centers open from late summer into autumn, and butterflies and birds visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Plants reach 3 to 4 feet tall.
Pairs well with Little Beauty tulip, Kentucky bluegrass, and Panicle hydrangea.
