Notes

'Prairie Munchkin' little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium 'Prairie Munchkin') is a grass for borders, containers, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a clumping mound with light brown blooms in summer and autumn, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit it. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Its foliage turns color in fall, and the plant tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, PowWow White coneflower, and Limelight Prime panicle hydrangea.
