This plant likes part to full shade and average moisture. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Dark purplish-red flowers open in early to mid summer. The plant grows 24 to 48 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide.
Pairs well with Lady in Red lady fern, Palm sedge, and Northern sea oats.
