Notes

'Rabelais' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Rabelais') is a perennial for borders, cut flower gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Dessert bred it in 1922. The single pink flowers have a yellow center and open in mid to late spring. They sit well above the spreading foliage.

Pairs well with Lupine, New England aster, Switchgrass, and Limeglow creeping juniper.
