Notes

'Racing Red' coneflower (Echinacea 'Racing Red') is a perennial for borders, butterfly gardens, and bee gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average soil. Red flowers with burgundy-black cones bloom in early to late summer and again in early to mid autumn, and deadheading prolongs the show. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Bees and butterflies visit the pollen-rich cones.

Pairs well with Blue grama, Purrsian Blue nepeta, and Gladiator ornamental onion.
