Notes

'Red Black ’n’ Gold' peony (Paeonia 'Red Black ’n’ Gold') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Rose red petals darken to black in the center, and the blooms open in early to late spring. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Cheyenne Spirit echinacea, Arabella clematis, and Lily of the valley.
