Notes
'Red Brocade' peony (Paeonia 'Red Brocade') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Derek Irvine bred it, and the medium red petals have yellow tinges that give them an orange look. The fragrant blooms open in early to late spring and attract butterflies.
Pairs well with Cheyenne Spirit echinacea, Arabella clematis, and Lily of the valley.
