Notes
'Red Czar' peony (Paeonia 'Red Czar') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant blooms draw butterflies and bees. William S. Bockstoce bred it in 1974. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.
Pairs well with June hosta, Prairie dropseed, and Stargazer lily.
