Notes

'Red Seal' peony (Paeonia 'Red Seal') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Rose-red blooms open in early to late spring and darken to black toward the center. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Butterflies visit the flowers, and Derek Irvine bred it.

Pairs well with Green Spice coral bells, Foxglove, and Big bluestem.
