Notes

Rice button aster (Symphyotrichum dumosum) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet soil of most types. It grows 1 to 3 feet tall, and its small pale blue, lavender, or white flowers open in large, airy clusters. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit it. It sits low on the menu for deer.

Pairs well with Wild bergamot, Switchgrass, and Nodding onion.
