Notes

Rose (Rosa rugosa) is a shrub for borders, hedges, pollinator gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Its fragrant rose pink to white flowers attract butterflies, bees, and birds. It grows fast into an arching shape and tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Arrowwood viburnum, Red fescue, and Sweet fern.

Native range

Eastern Russia, Korea, Japan, and northern China.
