Notes
'Rosea' sweet pepperbush (Clethra alnifolia 'Rosea') is a shrub for borders, hedges, rain gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Pink, fragrant flowers open from early to late summer and draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It tolerates salt and grows into a dense mound. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.
Pairs well with Annabelle hydrangea, Joe-pyeweed, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
