Notes

'Rubio' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Rubio') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its deep red double flowers have wide petals. The plants grow large and tall, and the strong stems hold the blooms well. Nicholls bred it as a seedling of 'Torpilleur'.

Pairs well with Siberian iris, Shrub rose, and Kentucky bluegrass.
