Notes

'Ruby' butterfly gladiolus (Gladiolus papilio 'Ruby') is a perennial for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Dark purple-red flowers open on tall, wiry stems from early to late summer. The narrow leaves look like iris foliage. It spreads by underground rhizomes, so give it room.

Pairs well with Greig's tulip, Fountain grass, and Mountain mint.
