Notes

'Ruth Clay' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Ruth Clay') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double red flowers are fragrant and open from spring into early summer. Ernest Flint Kelsey bred it, and the color is a rich, living red.

Pairs well with Siberian iris, Spotted beebalm, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
