Notes
'Sandhill' little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium 'Sandhill') is a grass for borders, containers, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry soil. Its upright mounds of gray-blue to powder blue blades turn coppery to amber in fall. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Fluffy seed clusters appear in late summer on stems up to 4.5 feet tall.
Pairs well with Sego lily, White prairie clover, and Blue Chip creeping juniper.
