Notes

'Sensation' lilac (Syringa vulgaris 'Sensation') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, hedges, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. The warm purple flowers have white edges and a strong fragrance. They open from early to late spring and draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with Quick Fire panicle hydrangea, Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, Little Beauty tulip, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
