Notes

'Primrose' lilac (Syringa vulgaris 'Primrose') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. The creamy white flowers open in early to late spring and smell sweet. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Bridal Bouquet peony, Little Beauty tulip, Polish Spirit clematis, and Western sword fern.
