Notes

Sitka willow (Salix sitchensis) is a tree for woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and moist to wet soil. White catkins open in early to late spring, and the leaves have a satiny sheen underneath. Plants with male and female catkins grow separately. Its roots help hold stream banks in place.

Pairs well with Pacific bleeding heart, Woods rose, and Bracken.
