Notes

Woods rose (Rosa woodsii) is a shrub for borders and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Single pink flowers are fragrant and open in late spring and early summer, and bees and butterflies visit them. Orange-red rose hips follow, and you can eat them. Give it good air flow because it can get fungal problems.

Pairs well with Silver buffaloberry, Apache plume, Red fescue, and White spruce.
