Notes

'Sonata' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Sonata') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Shell pink flowers measure nine inches across and have a mass of yellow staminodes in the center. Strong stems hold the blooms up in wet and windy weather. Harold Copeland bred it.

Pairs well with Immortality iris, Switchgrass, and Stargazer lily.
