Notes
'Speech' dahlia (Dahlia 'Speech') is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry soil. Fluffy cherry red centers with ivory white accents sit inside an outer row of bright red petals. Blooms appear from summer to frost on stems up to 40 inches tall. Winter wet is a problem, so you can lift and store the tubers in a cool, dry, frost free place.
Pairs well with Globemaster allium, Vetiver, Elfin mother of thyme, and Strawflower.
