Notes

'Spring' camellia (Camellia japonica 'Spring') is a shrub for borders, woodland gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun or part shade and average to wet soil. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Its rose red flowers are fragrant and open from winter into spring. This evergreen has a columnar shape and grows slowly, and bees and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Lady fern, American hornbeam, and Wood sorrel.
