Notes

'Sun Dog' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Sun Dog') is a perennial for borders, cut flower use, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Ernest Flint Kelsey bred it in 1939. The double flowers are creamy white with a yellow center. They open in late spring to early summer.

Pairs well with Indian Summer rudbeckia, Prairie dropseed, and Virginia rose.
