Notes
'Sunjoy Mini Maroon' Japanese barberry (Berberis thunbergii 'Sunjoy Mini Maroon') is a shrub for pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a dense shape and grows at a moderate pace. Bees and birds visit it, and it blooms from early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.
Pairs well with Flowering quince, Common milkweed, and Pink Impression tulip.
