Notes

'Sunjoy Neo' Japanese barberry (Berberis thunbergii 'Sunjoy Neo') is a shrub for pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It blooms in early to late spring, and bees and birds visit it. Its dense habit and moderate growth rate suit it to tight spots, and it tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Big bluestem, Common milkweed, and Flowering quince.
