Notes

'Sweet Kate' prairie spiderwort (Tradescantia andersoniana 'Sweet Kate') is a perennial for borders, containers, rain gardens, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet, loamy, clay, or chalky soil. Purplish-blue flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Butterflies visit the blooms, and the plant stays compact at 9 to 12 inches tall and wide.

Pairs well with Ostrich fern, Swamp milkweed, and Sedge.
