Notes
'Sweet Shadow' bigtooth maple (Acer grandidentatum 'Sweet Shadow') is a tree for specimen planting, shade gardens, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its dense form grows slowly and draws butterflies, bees, and birds. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Yellowish-green flowers open in spring and summer.
Pairs well with Obsidian coral bells, Smooth hydrangea, and Indian grass.
