Notes

'Tempest' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Tempest') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its dark red, semi-double blooms hide their stamens and open late in spring into early to mid summer. The plant stays short and has stiff stems. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.

Pairs well with Pink Impression tulip, Royal fern, Knapweed, and Limeglow creeping juniper.
